Beverly Farms Elementary School in Potomac, Somerset Elementary in Chevy Chase and Travilah Elementary in North Potomac were announced as Blue Ribbon schools in Maryland on Wednesday by Gov. Wes Moore.
This year, 23 outstanding Maryland schools qualified for the Blue Ribbon honor. The awards focus on performance in state and national assessments. The process of selection also recognizes the schools’ ability to close achievement gaps in comparison to the state average.
Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Thomas Taylor praised the teachers and staff for their dedication.
“Teaching has never been more demanding, and I see every day the hard work and commitment our educators bring to their classrooms,” Taylor said. “As student performance data across our district continues to move in the right direction, these Blue Ribbon honors demonstrate what is possible when intentional instructional support aligns with the professional judgment and talent of our teachers and school staff. We remain committed to raising our standards and delivering the high-quality education our community expects and deserves.”
